megadoc.net > Text Generation

Text generation is the automatic production of text. This field has not received as much scientific attention as Text Analysis and hence, it currently does not have much theoretical grounding, but consists largely of incompatible ad-hoc solutions.

The best introduction to Language Generation is probably chapter 4 (written by Eduard Hovy, University of Southern California), in the Survey of the State of the Art in Human Language Technology.

A practical approach

Since 1999, a number of large text generation projects have been completed with MegaDoc software, using a template-based approach. The resulting texts are all formatted in XHTML, the most interoperable markup language, providing the freedom to use these systems with any combination of browser, operative system and device.
